20 years of Hip Hip Hooray, a hit TV series of 90s

All the kids born in 90s could not have escaped from this television series aired on Zee TV. Those who were of the same age as the kids showed in the series could find each episode real and close to their own lives and those who were much younger wanted to grow as cool as John, Alisha, Bela, Mazhar, Raghav and Mona.

Many of us dreamt of having an understanding and cool teachers like Vinnie Sir (Vinay Pathak) and Alaknanda Mam (Suchitra Pillai). The show had total two seasons and 125 episodes.

Here is a glimpse of the actors in the show and what are they doing now.

Samantha Tremayne aka SAM appeared in "Dil Chahta Hai" in a small role as a college friend who was in love with Akaash (Aamir Khan). Now she works as a PR professional and stays in Pune. She is not on any social media platform.

Vishal Malhotra aka JOHN was already a known name before the series. After the show he got more popular among school going kids. He travels around the world for his work and also acted in a film recently "Tu Mera Sunday" along with Shahana Goswami and Rasika Duggal.

Shveta Salve aka PRISHITA is married to Hermit Sethi (Former V channel VJ) and co owns restaurant at Morjim Beach in Goa, Burgerfactorygoa. She is in news for her bold and sassy pictures on her Insta with her daughter. Recently she was trolled for posting her pictures while smoking and drinking and was tagged as a bad mother to which she gave a befitting reply and shut all the trolls.

Nilanjana aka MONA is happily married to Bengali superstar Jisshu Sengupta. They have two daughters Sara and Zara. The couple is considered to be quite famous in Bengali film circuit. Nilanjana also directed a Bengali TV Show "Tomay Amay Mile".

Vinay Pathak aka VINNI SIR is very active in commercial films and theatrical plays. He has been seen in so many commercial hits after this including Khosla Ka Ghosla, Bheja Fry, Johnny Gaddar, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jism. Aamir Khan took inspiration from his character too for his role in the film "Taare Zameen Par".

Peeya Rai Chowdhary aka KIRAN was the most bubbly and cutest in the group. She secretly liked Mazhar. She was seen in films like "Bride and Prejudice" and "The Bong Connection". She also married actor Shyam Munshi, who was prime eye witness in Jesica Lal murder case. But they separated in the year 2010. Peeya is seen is some advertisements too.

Rushad Rana aka RAGHAV is still seen in various television shows. He also gave brief appearance appeared in films like Mohabbatein, Veer Zara, Dor, Rangoon. After Purab Kohli and Vishal Malhotra, he is the only actor from the cast who is surviving in the acting circuit.

Zafar Karachiwala aka RAFEY, the matured sensible guy to whom everyone went for advice and who helped the new girl Alisha in school, is very active in Mumbai theatre circuit. He is happily married to Ahlam Khan, daughter of iconic actor Amjad Khan.

Purab Kohli aka MAZHAR, the hardworking guy who made part-time job looked cool was last seen in a hit television series P.O.W - Bandhi Yudh Ke on Star Plus. He is also featured in international television series Sense 8 on Netflix. He also married last year with his long time girlfriend in Goa. Their daughter was one of the guests at the wedding. Now they are expecting their second child. He keeps shuttling between London and Mumbai.

Candida Fernandes aka ALISHA, the girl who joins the school in mid year and faced lot of trouble to get accepted in the group, is seen in lot of advertisements like Dettol and Liril. She is not seen much in main stream films and shows.

Suchitra Pillai aka ALAKNANDA MAM has appeared in various films like Fashion, Dil Chahta Hai, and Page 3. Not many know but she also holds a degree in Electrical Engineering. Suchitra married Lars Kjeldsen, an engineer from Denmark and together they have a daughter named Annika.

Nauheed Cyrusi aka MEERA is happily married to her long time boyfriend and settled in Mumbai. She has a small flower boutique in Mumbai that delivers bouquets and flowers to all the famous celebrities in Mumbai on important occasions.

Yogesh aka MANJEET went ahead and wrote and directed the 2014 drama film ‘Ek Tha Hero’. He also plans to direct a film.

Sharokh Barucha aka CYRUS has quit the showbiz industry and settled in Melbourne, Australia. He works with a finance firm, Tabcorp as an Investment Banker.

Mehul Nisar aka MEHUL has worked in various television shows like Ek Radha Ek Shyam, Pyar Ke Do Naam and few more. He has a long association with Rajshri Films. He is married and has a son, Tanmay Nisar.
